How to be your brand, when everyone else is taken?
Nowadays, becoming your own brand is a true challenge when there are a gazillion platforms to promote your work, and another trillion people out there ready to copy and paste your content. No matter what, you need to remember 8 very important points which will keep you on track, of not loosing your personal identity and touch, but also your very own personal message!
- Decision: No matter of what is happening out there, no matter of your very own enemy which is at times your own limiting beliefs, you have to make a decision to win. Winning is the only option and there is no way back. Decision requires from you to show up every single day even at times when you feel like staying in bed under the covers. Consistency is the key!
- Vision: To have an idea is one thing, but to have a vision is a whole different universe of what you wish to do. So, keep dreaming big even when people try to stop you. Train yourself to have the solid ability to plan and think of the future, even if that idea sounds or looks absurd!
- Clarity: The fact is that 80% of communication is non-verbal. Think of the times that you made your statement without even opening your mouth. Your body spoke, your facial expressions spoke, even the freeze on your hair spoke. So, make sure you are clear on: your brand history, on your message, the colours you are using, your signature and your style.
- Strategy: To go from point A to point B, you do need a strategy. Your strategy needs to have goals, objectives, the ability to raise awareness, approach, targets and application of all of the above.
- Tactics: Theory is good, it is a way to play it safe, but with tactics you are putting yourself out there for the world to see who you are. How? By registering a Facebook page, by posting on Instagram, making a video for TikTok, writing an interesting opinion on Linked In, creating a blog, attending a seminar or a networking event. Just, wear your business attire and get out there! The world is yours!
- Metrics: Let’s say you did all of the above, being an excellent student. You will need metrics so as to measure the success of your personal brand marketing. The metrics are the backbone of your brand success and decisions are always made based on metrics.
- Ownership: Make sure you promote your worth by adding some extra value on it! Add some tax, so as people can appreciate you more. When you own your brand, you can make the choices. The ball is in your court to start game.
- Be unapologetic: Remember what it took you to reach where you are now! What you went through! Your brand is not meant for everybody, and you are not meant to please everybody unless you sell ice-cream. Keep your promise to yourself and to your audience, do not compromise and do not change for others. Show up, as your amazing self and be unapologetic about it!
